All JEE(Mains) 2017 Exam Centres has been enabled Aadhaar biometric attendance system

"As per latest reports, the Joint Apex Board (JAB) will be using the Aadhaar-based biometric attendance machines at examination centres for marking the attendance of candidates."

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has made this a compulsion from next year onwards.
As from the year 2017 onwards, it will be mandatory for the candidates who will be appearing for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains to provide his Aadhaar card details while filling up the online form.

This initiative has been to stop malpractices and keep a close check on the candidates as a few cases of impersonation reported last year during the JEE (Main) exam
As of now, the whole expenditure of installation of machines would be borne by the CBSE

Which states are exempted from this rule?

Till now, Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam have been given relaxation from this mandatory rule.

Alternatively, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) which will be conducting the examination will ensure 100 per cent scanning the OMR sheets at the examination centres immediately after the test is over.

Also, the examination centre would be under CCTV recording.

JEE Mains 2017 registration

The online registration for the JEE Main will commence from December 1, 2016 and will conclude on January 2, 2017.

The JEE Main 2017 examination dates have been released on the official website, the link for which is www.jeemain.nic.in. The examination will be held by the Central Board of Secondary Education for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions etc.

New development

From the academic year 2017, for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced examination, normalised score of class 12 marks will not be considered to determine JEE Main All India Ranks.
