CAT 2015 - Common Admission Test


CAT 2015 or Common Admission Test is the main entrance exam for MBA aspirants to get admission in top B-schools of India like IIM AhmedabadIIM BangaloreIIM Calcutta amongst many others. CAT 2015 will be conducted by IIM Ahmedabad.
Apart from the 19 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) located at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode, Kashipur, Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Shillong, Tiruchirapalli, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam, Bodh Gaya, Sirmaur, Amritsar, Sambalpur and Nagpur, CAT 2015 is also a mandatory entrance examination for several other leading management institutes in India.
Around 1.96 lakh candidates had registered for CAT 2014. The competition among CAT aspirants is very tough for IIMs and the other reputed institutes.
Since CAT 2014, the IIMs have a new testing partner, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) for the next 5 years. Prior to this, Prometric used to be conduct CAT for the IIMs.
CAT aspirants often start preparing for CAT almost one year in advance and prepare themselves by joining various specialized coaching institutes like Career Launcher, TIME, IMS etc.
CAT 2015 again sees a changed pattern and other tweaks to the exam schedule. Read on to know more:

CAT 2015 Exam Dates

The dates of the Common Admission Test (CAT 2015) have been released by IIM Ahmedabad on 26 July, 2015. The test would be conducted only on ONE day: 29 November, 2015 (Sunday) instead of the 2-day testing window that was in place last year. Here are the important dates for CAT 2015:
Register online for CAT 2015: 6 August - 20 September, 2015
Download admit card: From 1 pm, 15 October till day of exam
CAT 2015 testing day: 29 November, 2015 (Sunday) 
CAT 2015 result declaration2nd week of January, 2016

CAT 2015 Eligibility Criteria

A CAT 2015 aspirant must hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) or Persons with Disability (PWD) category) from any recognized University of India. If the aspirant is in the final year of Bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification and have completed degree requirement and are awaiting results, he/she can also apply.

CAT 2015 Test Pattern & Duration

Common Admission Test (CAT 2015) will have 3 sections this year:
  • Quantitative Ability (QA) - 34 questions
  • Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning (DILR)- 32 questions
  • Verbal & Reading Comprehension (VRC) - 34 questions
CAT 2015 exam duration has been increased to 180 minutes from the previous 170 minutes.
You can spend exactly 1 hour (60 minutes) on each of the section and then move on to the next section. Youcannot switch between the different sections during the exam.
All questions will not be multiple choice (MCQ) type. There will be some descriptive answers which you will have to type out on the screen.

No tutorial will be provided before the start of the test, and candidates are advised to go through the tutorials carefully from the official website which will be available by 15 Oct, 2015.
The total duration of CAT 2015 will be three hours and total number of questions will be 100.


CAT 2015 Practice Test

Click here to access a practice test that has been provided to offer the candidates a feel of the timed sections, as well as navigation and functionality of the actual test. You are advised to go through this practice test carefully to familiarise yourself with the screens, layout, and navigation of CAT 2015.

At the test venue, each candidate will be seated at a desk with a computer terminal and he/she will be provided with a scratch paper for calculations. After the test, candidate must leave the scratch paper at the desk. Rough work cannot be done on any other paper/sheet, as nothing will be allowed inside the testing room. No breaks will be given during the test.

You have to make the registration fee payment through online modes only by Credit Card, Debit Card or through Net Banking.

You must log on to the website iimcat.ac.in to register for CAT 2015. You can register for CAT 2015 from 6 August - 20 September, 2015.
CAT 2015 Fees
The CAT 2015 test fees is Rs.1600 for general candidates & OBC candidates and Rs.800 for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates.

CAT 2015 will be held across 136 cities in India with a total of 650 test centres.

CAT 2015 Results
