DELHI GOVT. NOTIFICATION RELEASED FOR NURSERY ADMISSION 2018-19:NURSERY ADMISSION BEGIN START FROM DECEMBER 27



"The nursery admission process for session 2018-19 in the national capital will begin from December 27 in 1,700 schools across the city.This admission process will be for the 75 per cent seats and the rest 25 per cent seats that are reserved for economically weaker section or disadvantaged category will be filled centrally by the government.
Parents need to check the official website of Department of Education (DoE) to know more about the admissions, the link for which is www.edudel.nic.in"

Important guidelines for the admission:-

  • Children of age between 3-4 years are eligible for nursery admission. For KG admission, children need to be between the age of 4-5 years and for class 1 admission, the age criteria is 5-6 years
  • The sale of admission forms for all private schools for 2018-19 will continue until January 17, which is also the last day of form submission
  • The first merit list of selected students will be published on February 15, the second merit list of selected students will be published on February 28 and the final merit list of selected students will be published on March 15
  • Delhi nursery admission process closes on March 31, 2018

Application Process:-

Parents are not required to purchase prospectus of the school they are applying for. They need to pay an admission registration fee of Rs 25 along with copy of ration card, smart card, voter ID card, electricity/water/telephone bill, domicile certificate, passport or Aadhaar Card.

Upper age limit for admissions:-

In 2015, the Delhi government had declared that it would impose an upper-age limit. This part of the government notification was challenged in the High Court. However, earlier this year, the court upheld the notification and allowed DoE to fix an upper limit for admission to entry level classes in private recognized unaided schools.

Also, the Delhi High Court had rejected Delhi government's proposed single criterion of neighborhood, according to which the private schools built on government land need to prioritize admissions of students living within 1 km radius of the school, followed by students living in 3 km radius.

  • First list of selected candidates:- February 15, 2018
  • Schools to upload list detailing marks given to each applicant:- February 2, 2018
  • Second list of selected candidates:- February 28, 2018
  • Subsequent admission lists:- March 15, 2018
  • Closure of admission process:- March 31, 2018

No school admission if parents have more than 2 kids:-

In nursery admissions 2017, in the middle of admissions, a well-known Delhi school has denied admittance to parents having more than two kids. "It wants to motivate people to have fewer children," the school said.
Meanwhile, Salwan School in West Delhi's Rajendra Nagar has mentioned this condition in the registration forms issued by its two branches -- Salwan Montessori and GD Salwan. "Parents having more than two children, including whose admission is sought, need not apply," read the form.
Meanwhile, the list of essential criteria to qualify for Delhi nursery admission like distance from the school, alumni (parents as alumni), siblings (siblings attending the same school), girl child, and single parent among others will be uploaded by all schools by December 26 on the official website, www.edudel.nic.in
